Hill Country Women in Business - Woman of the Year
Each year Hill Country Women in Business recognizes one member within our organization with this prestigious award. The woman awarded this honor will have exercised a high standard of ethical and moral behavior as well as graciously volunteered her time to advance the mission of our group.
| Laura Avery - 2022 Winner Laura Avery was voted HCWIB’s 2022 Woman of the Year for many reasons. Anyone who knows Laura is drawn to her warmth, sense of humor, and positive attitude. She represents the best of HCWIB so that other women want to join. She encourages other small business owners and offers advice on marketing and promotions. She joined HCWIB in April last year and immediately volunteered to fill the Technology Chair position and has upgraded HCWIB’s presence on the Member and Public Facebook pages. She is creative in designing posts about our members, the Board, Partnerships, and events. She created a monthly event calendar and has mastered the intricacies of our website. She loves Boerne and is always promoting HCWIB outreach. She believes in our organization and supports HCWIB by being a Partner, sponsoring events, and helping with the meals for the Women’s Shelter. She attends all networking events if she’s in town and is a great influence by sitting on the Board with her active imagination and enthusiasm. It was her idea to have a float in the Christmas parade and I’m sure she has lots more in store for us in 2023. Her service to HCWIB and a great example of a small business owner promoting others. The Woman of the Year award is based on the criteria below.
- Member who has worked hard and graciously volunteered her time to advance the organization and its mission this year and/or in previous years.
- Must have served on the board or been on a committee either as chairman, co-chairman, or committee member this year and/or in previous years.
- Have excellent attendance being involved and engaged both at membership meetings and outside regular meetings this year.
- Not ever received the award before.
